A new year and our Dear Jane Club is back in full swing. What a fun group of ladies it is! You do remember that it’s not all about Dear Jane, right? These gals just bring along whatever it is they are working on at the moment. And sometimes it’s their Dear Jane quilts. Sometimes not. But it’s always fun.
First, do you remember seeing Jenni’s chatelaine in the DJ blog on December 31st? Just in case you don’t remember, let me refresh your memory……
Really fancy, isn’t it? Well, JoAnne decided that Jenni’s scissors needed something better for hanging on……
Jenni’s scissors are hanging in style now. Complete with a DJ block for a pin cushion on one end! Fabulous job, JoAnne! And Jenni even had some takers for that old chatelaine. It’s a one-of-a-kind, after all.
Jenni also brought along a completed quilt to show everyone. A Dear Jane quilt! She surprised us all with it finished over the holidays! And we didn’t even know she was that far along in her DJ journey. Boy, did she surprise us.
And here it is! What’s that you say? It doesn’t look like a Dear Jane quilt to you? Ahhhhh, but that’s because you don’t know the secret of our little group. Any quilt that has any amount of DJ blocks in it is considered a Baby Jane. And lurking way down in the lower right corner of Jenni’s quilt……..
……are four fabulous Dear Jane blocks! So it’s a Dear Jane quilt. Aren’t you impressed? We were. Apparently we are easily impressed. And we loved Jenni’s scrappy, fun, happy quilt. It made us all smile.
Denise was working on this happy appliqué block. This is going to be a bright, cheerful quilt!
Jenni was working on this appliqué block. With taupe colors inspired by the fabulous Japanese quilts she’d seen in Houston. After all, she already had completed a Dear Jane quilt.
Judy was stitching the binding on this classy piano quilt. It will hang in her home when she finishes that binding. Knowing Judy, the binding is finished by now. She’s a whiz!
And Judy also finished all these DJ blocks since the last time we met! She went to Vermont last Fall and saw the original DJ quilt and got all inspired to hand piece one of her own. I think she also had gotten wind of how much fun we were having at our monthly DJ Club and she didn’t want to miss out on any fun.
I also couldn’t resist a picture of this cute bag that Judy had all her sewing things in. I just knew you needed to see it.
And look at this cute pin cushion wrapped around Donna’s finger as she stitched on her DJ block. I had to show it to you. Isn’t it just the cutest little thing?

These are JoAnne’s blocks that she finished since last time. And the one she worked on this month. She’s going to have this red, white and blue DJ done in no time. Her work is fantastic.
And then, fashionably late, in came Julie! We hadn’t seen Julie for several years at DJ Club. Which, of course, meant that we had to have a big discussion on how long it had really been. And we decided it had been somewhere between 4 and 452 years. Julie thought it had only been a year or so, but we set her straight. And then she surprised us all with this…….
A whole big box of DJ blocks! She’d really been holding out on us. And we wanted to kick her to the curb. Looks like we needed her a whole lot more than she needed us. But she didn’t know what she’d been missing. Or maybe she did and that’s why she’s back? I mean, after all, the food in December is worth the price of admission, right girls? And we are all glad that Julie is back.
One of these days after I get organized (yeah, right, see yesterday’s blog), I’m going to do a whole posting about Inklingo. It’s a fabulous quilting technique/tool created by a very dear friend of mine. In the meantime, you have to see this cute video she made. It will give you a chuckle. And I’m sure you need a chuckle today, right?
Be sure to have your sound on. My favorite part was the rows of half-square triangles that look like they are clapping. Or singing. Or dancing. And I love Monkey. He’s almost as photogenic as Boo.
